성능이나 기능면에서는 만족할 만 했지만 휴대용으로 사용하기엔 살짝 크고 무겁고, 배터리 시간이 너무 짧아 긴 회의시 약간 배터리가 모자라는 경우도 있어 슬슬 바꿀까 고민하다 레노버의 씽크패드 라인업에서 신형 르누아르 기반의 라이젠 프로세서를 탑재한 E(Edge) 제품군을 출시한다는 내용을 보았습니다.
단점은 씽크패드 기본으로 사용되는 NTSC 45%, 250nit의 액정은 어둡고 색감이 별로라는 점, 그리고 키보드 백라이트가 없다는게 아쉬운 상황이 간혹 있다는 것, 그리고 USB-C 포트를 하나만 지원해 반드시 PD충전이 가능한 USB-C허브를 구매해야 제대로 사용할 수 있다는 것 등일듯 합니다.

The displays have often been a weakness of inexpensive ThinkPads, because a brightness of around 250 nits is not really up to date anymore. The trackpad is precise and smooth without notable stutters or hiccups. You can’t press down from anywhere on the pad like you can with the MacBook, but you can always tap if you’ve enabled that option. The E14 also comes equipped with Lenovo’s signature TrackPoint, the tiny, red eraser-like nub that rests between the G, H, and B keys, with accompanying left, right, and center click buttons below the space bar. Comfort aside, the keyboard provides additional utility in its function keys. There are the usual buttons for things like adjusting the volume and brightness, as well as muting the laptop’s microphone (no more worrying your whole team’s going to hear you struggle to keep your barking dogs quiet during a meeting). Other function keys control things like screen projecting as well as answering and ending calls. Of course, this still is a budget ThinkPad. There is no magnesium structure frame inside like with the ThinkPad T series and there also is no aluminum unibody-style construction like with the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 5. The aluminum parts of the E14 do increase the stiffness, but they might be susceptible for dents and bending – only long-term usage will tell. Pressure on the back of the screen is passed onto the LCD panel comparably fast, but the keyboard does not flex. There also are variations of the E14 that are completely made out of plastic.

Chiếc laptop này mình đã tìm kiếm và lựa chọn dựa trên tiêu chí riêng của mình là cần một chiếc máy có vẻ ngoài cứng cáp, bản lề chắc chắn vì chiếc laptop trước đó của mình bản lề và vỏ máy khá yếu, ọp ẹp dẫn đến việc bung luôn cả vỏ máy khi gập mở lap sau một thời gian dài sử dụng, cùng với đó là cấu hình chiếc máy mới này phải đủ mạnh mẽ để xử lý công việc văn phòng do mình thường xuyên mở và tính toán các file excel có dung lượng file lớn cũng như sử dụng một ít cho việc Photoshop, edit video… Sau cùng chiếc máy cũng cần phải có tương đối đầy đủ các loại cổng kết nối.
Tuy nhiên đôi lúc sau khi mình lock máy một thời gian khoảng 30’ và quay lại thì việc quét vân tay khá chập chờn khiến mình phải nhập tay mật khẩu để có thể đăng nhập được vào máy. Mình nghĩ đây chỉ là vấn đề phần mềm, hi vọng các bản cập nhật sau của Lenovo có thể khắc phục được điều này. Một điều tích cực của vấn đề này đó là việc khiến mình phải nhập tay mật khẩu như vậy làm mình cho mình không bị quên mật khẩu máy
Trackpad của máy cũng được sơn đen đồng bộ với lớp sơn phần kê tay do đó khá bám tay, mình thích nó được phủ một lớp kính để có thể mượt mà hơn khi vuốt sử dụng, nhìn chung trackpad sử dụng khá ổn, cử chỉ đa nhiệm tốt tuy nhiên trải nghiệm trackpad của mình trên laptop Windows chưa thực sự làm mình cảm thấy tự tin và thoải mái do đó mình thường gắn chuột không dây để sử dụng.
